Nutrition is defined as a process in which plant or animal takes in and make use of food substances. Nutrients like proteins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and electrolytes are the essential nutrients. For a human being, 85% of energy usage happening daily is from fat and carbohydrates and the remaining 15% is from proteins.
Nutrition is attained by eating healthy foods. Nutrition is very essential for the grown and development of a human being. The nutrition status of a person is determined by the state of health which is determined by the intake of food. Everyone should be carefully choose food items and consume that.

“Managing perfect body weight is not complicated rocket science. Our body is made up of food which we eat during our day to day life. If we are overweight or obese at the moment then one thing is certain that the food which we eat is unhealthy”.
Role of nutrients in the human body
Nutrients are molecules in food where all organism need to make energy to grow and develop Nutrients are digested and broken into basic parts so that the organs can make use of them Nutrients are of two main types Macronutrients and micronutrients where the macro and micronutrients are subdivided. All these nutrients enrich our organs and give a healthy life. The value and range of nutrients in our body depend upon age. Nutrients perform a various function in our body like energy provision and processes like digestion, breathing, growth and development. The requirement of energy depends upon age, size and activity level. If the intake is equal to the amount of energy then the energy is in balance level.
BMI (body mass index) is a very good indicator of nutrition status. The calculation is done by considering height, weight and total body fat as weight
BMI = weight (kg)/height * height
If the value is high then it indicates that the fat storage is high and low value indicates insufficient fat. Therefore BMI can be used as a diagnostic tool for both over nutrition and under nutrition.
If BMI lies between 25.0 and 29.9 then it means your overweight and if it is above 30.0 it means yours are obese The healthy BMI range is between 18.5 -24.9.
BMI can also underestimate the amount of body fat for an elderly person and also for people who are physically disabled.
It can also overestimate the weight for athletes, bodybuilders and pregnant women.
Nutrients play a vital role in human life so it is our duty to eat properly to maintain good health
To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.
If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have the safest way to health.
