Importance of dietary fat
Dietary fat plays a major role in controlling cholesterol. Cholesterol is a fat which is essential for our body to function properly. Cholesterol is actually not bad but too much of it leads in trouble. As like fats, there is good and bad cholesterol. There are two kinds of cholesterol HDL and LDL where HDL is good cholesterol which is found in blood wherein LDL is bad. To protect ourselves from stroke and heart disease we must keep LDL at a low level and HDL at a high level. Rather than concentrating on cholesterol, it is better to focus on replacing bad fats with good fats.

Unhealthy Fats
Meat and dairy products contain unhealthy fats which are artificial Tran’s fat that is very dangerous. It is very bad for health and it can lower the good HDL level in the body. These trans fat lead to chronic diseases, heart diseases and it can also lead to diabetes. Our only aim is to eliminate artificial Tran’s fat because no amount of them is helpful or necessary.
Doughnuts, pizza, fried foods, packed food items and any food which claims as trans-fat-free contains Trans fat and they are unhealthy to our body.
There is one other unhealthy fat which is saturated fat. This fat is not that bad when compared to trans fat. Saturated fat can increase LDL level and has a very bad impact on leading to heart diseases. You don’t have to cut off saturated fat but you can limit the level to 10% so that it does not harm us.
Beef, chicken skin, butter, cheese, ice cream, coconut and palm oil contain saturated fat where it is no longer considered as bad fat.
